Food Safety Helpline invites you to a panel discussion on the various aspects of food safety that the food industry is currently facing and how they can be resolved in the best possible way. The interactive discussion would provide an opportunity to all stakeholders and especially young entrepreneurs to understand comprehensively the food safety principles, their application and compliance requirements as spelled out in the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, especially as food laws are still evolving.
One of the most common yet most serious challenges is that of microbial contamination. Despite the best efforts during food preparation and storage, microbes escape into foods causing food borne illnesses.
Other areas of concern include the increasing use of antibiotics, pesticides and chemical fertilizers at the production stage. Food manufacturers have to face the problem of sourcing contamination free raw foods like vegetables.
Another interesting area of discussion would revolve around consumer perception of food safety and the role food manufacturers play in building that perception.
