As part of Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) National Initiative Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan, (Movement for Safe Food for All) CII’s Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence (FACE) in partnership with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is jointly organised its annual flagship event of 2018, the “13th Food Safety & Quality Summit” on the 13 – 14 December, 2018 in New Delhi. The theme of the Summit was Managing Product Integrity, Regulatory and Food Safety Solutions in the Food Chain for Consumer Health and Safety.
Arbro Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. (Analytical Division) has received the recognition level of Commendation Certificate for Strong Commitment by the jury of the CII Awards Committee. The certificate was won by ARBRO Lab New Delhi in the Category of ‘Small & Medium – Food Testing Laboratory’ for the year 2018. The announcement and presentation of awards were made at the CII Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory Summit, Award Ceremony on Dec 13, 2018, at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi. Dr. Saurabh Arora, MD – Arbro Pharmaceuticals & Mr. Vijay Arora, Chairman – Arbro Group were present at the plenary sessions of the summit and received the award of recognition for the organization’s strong commitment and excellent work in the field of food safety.
Ms. Rita Teaotia, Chairperson FSSAI gave away the CII Food Safety Awards, joined by Mr. Pawan Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Ms. Mariam Eid, Vice Chairperson Codex Alimentarius Commission and Mr. S Dave – Chairman, FAO/ WHO Coordinating Committee for Asia.
The CII Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Summit has been conceptualized, keeping in mind consumer concerns and opportunities and moreover the need for stronger regional collaboration, through grouping of countries to better meet their capacity development needs, learning from international best practices and exploring the relevance and applicability of tools, techniques and science-based principles of other sectors to food safety and quality.
India is emerging as a global food basket and there is a need to strengthen strategies for managing product integrity that is aligned with emerging regulatory trends so as to achieve global excellence in food safety. Moreover, the trend of mindful eating, shifting trends in advertising, access to social media, is providing transparency to consumers about the food products including the origins and ingredients of the food they have purchased. The need to ensure food safety in the entire food value chain has become a priority for food businesses and consumers and food testing laboratories play a key role in ensuring safe food.
