The Eat Right Mela is conducted by the Department of Food Safety, Govt of NCT of Delhi. It is a wonderful opportunity for people to become aware regarding food safety and right choice of food while adopting healthy eating habits.
Commemorating the 76th year of Independence portraying India’s freedom struggle themed on “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, A Mission Of department of food safety, Govt of NCT of Delhi is going to organize Eat Right Walkathon & Eat Right Mela on 30th July 2022. The Eat Right Walkathon in first half of the day will be followed by Eat Right Mela in the second half of the day.
The zealous participants will walk through various landmarks of Delhi starting from Mayur Bhawan via Babur Road via Tansen Marg via Barakhamba Road via outer circle, Cannaught place (two rounds) and reach the end point at Mayur Bhawan.
The Eat Right Walkathon shall involve about 150 persons from 6.00 am to 10.30 am. On the other hand, the Eat Right Mela will be joined by 400 persons at open space in front of Emporiums starting from Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhawan to Gangotri U.P Emporium, Baba Kharak Singh Marg from 3.00 pm to 9.00 pm.
The notion behind such an event is to spread awareness among FBOs and citizens regarding the significance of three aspects related to healthy living, the consumption of safe and healthy foods, the right time of consuming food with a balanced diet, and avoiding communicable diseases. It is an astounding opportunity for the people to engage in various activities related to food safety and hygiene. It is an infotainment model of a street food festival to engage, excite and enable citizens to make the right food choices. The Department of food safety conducts this festival to open doors for Food Business Operators, Hawkers, and Vendors to help them take a step towards educating themselves.
The Mela(fair) provides an opportunity to learn about safe food and healthy diets, including quick tests for adulterants, health and nutrition benefits of food, dietary advice by experts, information on Government programmes, initiatives, and much more. Moreover, pavilions displaying interesting exhibits and stalls showcasing local thalis, temple foods and organic foods are also exquisite features of this mela.
It is an initiative to enlighten the general public as well as FBOs regarding food safety aspects. Such an initiative will have a long term advantage and a mission to make our society and country healthy by following healthy eating practices.
