Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) has launched its ‘Totally Worth It’ menu so as to appeal to the young cafe goers like college goers and other young adults. The “Totally Worth It Menu” has been curated to interest those who seek variety, unique, innovative, wholesome choices and quality but which come at a great price. The menu has 24 new food, beverage and dessert offerings that are designed to include an extensive range and is available as a la carte option. The prices have been kept low so they appeal to the youth and start at Rs.29. A food and beverage combo can be bought at Rs.49 and a three-course combo, including dessert, starts at Rs.88. The youth were primarily looking for value for money offerings and with these appetising and affordable ranges, Cafe Coffee Day is likely to set a new trend in the all-day quick meals space. Currently, the new menu is available at Cafe Coffee Day outlets in Bengaluru, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata. It will soon expand to other markets across India.
Italian Frozen Dessert Company to get Stake in Milkberry
An Italian frozen dessert company will pick up 40% stake in West Bengal’s home-grown frozen dessert brand, Milkberry which is a brand under the umbrella of Rainbow Dairy Food Product. Milkberry is present in the eastern and northeastern states, with over 40 variants and flavours. The agreement is advised by an Italian consulting company ‘Bizdev’ and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with it byRainbow Dairy Food Product. It seems that the Italian companies they are in talks with attended Bengal Chief Minister’s business meeting in Milan and that is how their interest grew for this venture. Once the tie-up is sealed Milkberry will aim for a high growth rate of 100 percent with new flavours. The new products will be co-branded,
Kraft Heinz to sell Several Indian Brands
The Kraft Heinz Company announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Indian brands Complan, Glucon-D, Nycil, and Sampriti to Zydus Wellness Limited jointly with Cadila Healthcare Limited at a valuation of approximately Rs 46 billion on a debt free and cash free basis. The transaction is expected to go through in early 2019, subject to regulatory approvals of the Competition Commission of India and other customary closing conditions. Under the terms of the agreement, Kraft Heinz will sell100 pc of its equity shares in Heinz India Private to Zydus-Cadilla. Besides the above-mentioned brands, the deal will include two manufacturing facilities, with approximately 900 employees associated with these brands and operations. India will continue to be key market for Kraft Heinz as they are planning to expand and grow the Heinz sauces and Kraft business here.J.P. Morgan Securities LLC served as exclusive financial advisor to Kraft Heinz for this transaction, while India-based Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and global law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher served as legal advisors for Kraft Heinz.
PepsiCo is the new Beverage Partner for Domino’s Pizza
Jubilant FoodWorks has announced that PepsiCo will be their beverage partner for Domino’s Pizza India. As part of the partnership, the PepsiCo carbonated beverages like Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7Up, and Mirinda along with Lipton Ice Tea will be sold across all Domino’s restaurants in India. Jubilant FoodWorks Limited feels that this partnership will bring in fresh focus to their beverage portfolio as they will be able to offer greater variety to enhance the Domino’s Pizza experience. On the other hand, PepsiCo feels that the partnership will further strengthen their position in the food service segment in India.
PepsiCo to Invest $5 Million in Agricultural Programmes
Food and Beverage Company, PepsiCo intends to invest $5 million by 2020 for expanding its agricultural in India. PepsiCo currently works with 24,000 farmers across 14 states to grow the potato, rice, corn, and citrus which are used in several of its products like lays, Uncle Chips, Kurkure, and Tropicana Juices. PepsiCo is also the largest buyer of Chip grade potato in India which is all sourced from these farmers. They have been working with farmers since the past 28 years on various agricultural programmes like collaborative farming, direct seeding of rice and drip irrigation. Through these techniques, rice farmers and potato farmers were able to save water consumption for irrigation
The company is now planning to double this farming network and to expand into newer geographies. The company is also helping farmers to tap into digital technology and have connected farmers to mobile apps which can inform them on weather and pest management. PepsiCo also has a sustainable farming programme through which they educate farmers on fertilisers, irrigation and farm protection techniques. They also provide handheld machines that help farmers detect moisture levels, pest detection etc. PepsiCo also has a pilot project that will digitally map farm terrains, ensure crop traceability to meet global standards.
Uber Eats and CCD to Partner for Virtual Restaurant Network
Food delivery app Uber Eats in partnership with Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) has launched a network of virtual restaurants that will offer more choices in ‘delivery-only’ restaurant brands. The first restaurant brand under this partnership is likely to be launched in mid-November on Uber Eats app. Uber sees CCD as the pioneers of café culture in India as they already have a network of 1,742 cafes across 246 cities in India. Currently, Uber Eats has a presence in 37 cities. However, Uber Eats has the experience in the virtual restaurant space from their global operations which will help provide greater growth opportunities for their Indian restaurant partners.
BillionSmiles announces BonSouth’s First Outlet in Pune
BillionSmiles Hospitality Pvt Ltd. (BHPL) plans to launch BonSouth’s first franchised outlet in Pune. BonSouth will revamp and will bring a new offering in Pune market with the longest lava stone grill on the customer’s table called ‘Celebration Table’, which will have extensive dishes from Asian cuisine, Indian cuisine, and contemporary world fusion. BHPL has more than a dozen of restaurants and serving more than 30 plus companies in its catering business in Bangalore and Pune and has more than 12 restaurants between the various brands like UpSouth and BillionSmiles BonSouth catering.
