Russia to allow Indian dairy exports but with a condition
Russia has signed an agreement which is to allow dairy exports from India. However, exporting companies will have to procure milk directly from farms and not from collection centers. Rosselkhoznador, a Russian federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance (FSVPS) agency has completed inspections of those companies willing to export as well as carried out an inspection of dairies to ensure that cattle are free from foot and mouth disease (FMD).
The Russian agency will be announcing the results on their website soon. Since Amul collects milk from centers they are a little tense about the result and would need to negotiate further if selected. Schreiber Dynamix Dairies, Pune Ltd has stated that the protocol should have provisions and permissions which should grant access to the eligible players in the market and the rest can join later.
Companies are interested in expanding their portfolio that is why they are willing to export to Russia which is otherwise an unsuitable market. It takes 45 days for a consignment to reach Russia. Initially, the Russian agency found Schreiber Dynamix Dairies Ltd and Parag Milk Food Ltd eligible to export. And it has taken a lot of negotiations with Russia for the bilateral agreement to come through.
