Online Food Platforms delist About 10,000 Restaurants
Zomato, Swiggy, Foodpanda and Uber Eats have delisted more than 10,000 food business operators and restaurateurs after Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) asked the e-commerce food platforms to provide updates on the compliance of licensing and registration rules by these entities. FSSAI has reviewed the action taken by these leading food aggregators with regard to the delisting of non-compliant hotels/restaurants. Zomato has delisted 2,500, Swiggy 4,000, Foodpanda 1,800, and Uber Eats 2,000 partner hotels/restaurants from their respective platforms.
The FSSAI has also asked these food aggregators to share the list of delisted FBOs so action can be initiated against these defaulters as per Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, The FSSAI has also shared a checklist of compliance for hotels/restaurants to be used by them in their internal food safety audits. Zomato and Swiggy have conducted internal food safety audits of some of their partner hotels/restaurants accordingly. The food delivery platforms have also come together for training and certification of supervisors of hotels/restaurants.

Mondelez India has launched Cadbury Dairy Milk Crispello, as it is made in India’ innovation and has launched it in the crispy-eat segment in the finger-bar format. The company has launched the new chocolate because the Indian consumers are now exposed to a global palette of food experiences and expect the same in domestic markets. Moreover, the company has also learned that Gen-Z consumers have a desire for multi-textured experiences. Since Gen-Z is the major cohort for the chocolate maker it was important to put their preference into the new chocolate.
Mondelez India has been making innovative products recently be it Dairy Milk Silk Oreo, 5Star 3D or Fuse and Crispello is yet another milestone in this journey. Priced at Rs.30 Crispello contains a layer of delicious dairy milk, crunchy wheat crispies, and smooth chocolate cream. The chocolate melts in the mouth and the wheat crispies below the creamy chocolate provide the crispiness. The launch of the new product will be supported by a 360-degree communication campaign including a new TVC and outdoor and digital campaigns that target the brand’s core audience.
Patanjali to Launch more Products from Farm and Food Processing Sector
Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved is likely to focus on the agriculture and food processing sector and hopes to bring out new products from that segment. The company is already working with farmers on the ground so as to encourage them to opt for organic farming as they would like to bring out organic products. Patanjali Ayurved has already entered the cow milk segment by launching cow milk and milk-based dairy products and also has plans to launch other products from the sector. Agriculture has a wide scope and Patanjali would work in several directions in the sector including in the food processing so as to launch more products.

Coca-Cola India Appoints Asha Sekhar as Chief Digital Officer
Coca-Cola India has appointed Asha Sekhar as its Vice President and Chief Digital Officer, India and South West Asia. This is a newly created role which will focus on the digital transformation of the company. Sekhar will build foundations necessary for business growth, drive opportunities and strengthen Coca-Cola India’s digital ecosystem. In addition to her new responsibilities, she will continue to lead the media and allied marketing functions. Asha Sekhar is a Coca-Cola veteran and has spent over 13 years with the company and previously she was Director – Media, Coca-Cola India & South West Asia.
Starbucks Appoints Patrick Grismer Chief Financial Officer
Starbucks Corporation has appointed Patrick Grismer as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Grismer succeeds Scott Maw, who will retire on November 30 but Maw will remain a Senior Consultant through March 2019 to ensure a smooth transition, with Grismer joining the company on November 12 and assuming the role of CFO on November 30. Grismer is an accomplished finance executive and has more than 25 years combined experience at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Yum! Brands and The Walt Disney Company. He has been CFO at Hyatt since 2016.
