Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an order regarding disposal of Used Cooking Oil (UCO). The decision has been taken with the approval of all the Competent Authorities regarding directions under Section 16(5) of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Consequently, reference is invited to FSSAI Order No. 1-2/Stds/0&F/Notification n(11)/FSSAI-2018 dated 30th January, 2019 or the subject mentioned above. These orders inter alia provide that the cooking oil having developed Total Polar Compounds (TPC) of more than 25% shall not be topped up with fresh oil. This provision has been reviewed keeping in view the available testing protocol and related enforcement issues.
Notably, it has been decided to remove this provision with immediate effect.
