Social media performs a useful purpose but it can also have a negative side as can be seen from this incident. It has been brought to the notice of the FSSAI that a Fake/ Forged Order is being circulated in the name of the FSSAI.
The FSSAI would like to inform all food business operators that the order FNo Std/SP-10/T (Formaldehyde) dated 12.02.2020 that is being circulated on social media and amongst food businesses which mentions a “notice of Rs 1200/- for the one-year security fine for the said industry/ company” has not been sent by the Apex Regulator.
FSSAI has clarified that it has not issued any such order dated 12.02.2020 related to a fine of Rs 1200. The FSSAI has also advised all Food Business Operators and the other stake holders including State Food Safety Authorities to verify / confirm the veracity of any order that has been sent in its name. All FSSAI released orders/ advisories must be checked on the official website of FSSAI (www.fssai.gov.in) before making any payment or initiating any other action.
The FSSAI is of the opinion that the fake order has been released by some individuals who are trying to cheat food businesses and other stake holders. The Regulator has asked all food businesses and stakeholders to be vigilant so they can combat any such orders that create mischief. FSSAI has also requested any person, who comes across such mischief making orders, to alert the appropriate authorities in the state food safety departments. They can also convey the information to the FSSAI’s regional offices or the headquarters at Delhi.
FSSAI is likely to take legal recourse and action on the circulation of this false and fake order and for spreading it to food businesses and on social media.
