The FSSAI has issued a letter regarding the statutory inspections of the premises of Food Business Operators (FBOs). On the basis of the inspections carried out by Technical Officers various penal provisions including sanctions are being enforced as per the guidelines of FSS Act 2006. The inspection of the premises will be strictly followed as per the section 38 of the FSS Act 2006 which ensures that the Food Safety Officers (State/Central) have the legal rights to inspect the premises of FBOs and take the appropriate action against any laxity in the rules and regulations mentioned in the Act.
This is why, FSSAI has advised the FBOs to strictly abide by the statutory provisions of the FSS Act 2006 and follow the procedures and instructions including inspections, sampling etc to avoid any persecution and adjudication cases due to technical and legal lacunae.
The letter has been issued to all the Directors of Regional Offices and all the Central Licensing Authorities of FSSAI.
