Through directions dated 30 April 2019, the FSSAI has superseded all previous orders regarding the registration of Food Business Operators (FBOs) when using the platform of Common Service Centre – Special Purpose Vehicles (CSC-SPV). The FSSAI has taken into consideration the various issues arising out of the registration of FBOs through CSC – SPV and has decided to implement the following with immediate effect.
- Auto-generation of Registration Certificate, upon filing of application through the CSC-SPV, has been discontinued.
- On the filing of registration application and payment of fee thereof through the CSC, the same will be reflected in the bin of the Registering Authority for further scrutinization. As per provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) 2011, there is an option to order an inspection of the FBO premises within 7 days or otherwise, issue a registration certificate.
- In case of registration is not granted or denied or the inspection is not ordered within 7 days, then on the 8th day of the submission of application, the Registration Certificate will be auto-generated. An SMS/E-mail alert will also be sent to the FBOs registered mobile regarding this. The FBO will then be able to obtain a copy of the Registration Certificate from the concerned CSC, which will be free of cost.
In case an inspection is ordered within 7 days of submission of application then the Registration Certificate shall be granted by the Registration Authority within a period of 30 days but only after they are satisfied with the safety, hygiene and sanitary conditions of the premises. However, if Registration is not granted or it is denied or no decision regarding the same is communicated within 30 days then the Registration Certificate will be auto generated on the 31st day. An SMS/E-mail alert will be sent on the FBOs registered mobile. The FBO can then obtain a copy of the Registration Certificate, free of cost from the CSC concerned.
