Bikano Launches Multigrain Chips
Bikano has launched two variants of multigrain chips under the brand name Treatos. The two multigrain flavours are named Chatak Masala and Tangy Tomato. The multigrain chips are a healthier option to the conventional potato chips made specially for health-conscious consumers. The multigrain chips have an assortment of grains like rice, wheat, corn and pulses.
Chatak Masala is hot, spicy and the peppery whereas Tangy Tomato is a tomato-based mouth-watering offering. What is interesting is that the products are available at a convenient price point of Rs 5 only. Bikano has launched the products as there is a demand for healthy and nutritious snacks without compromising on the taste of traditional potato chips. The two products are available through the brand’s wide network of retail and modern trade outlets both within the country and outside.
Wonderchef Sales During Festive Season Reach Rs 121 Crore
Wonderchef made sales of Rs 121 crore during the festive season and is all set to end FY20 with brand sales of Rs 400 crore. This year the online sales have shown a significant rise enabling Wonderchef to achieve remarkable growth. Wonderchef has sold over 14 lakh units till date with nutri-blend being the company’s top-selling product. The online sales component has been instrumental in helping the company penetrate all parts of the country and they plan to strengthen their digital infrastructure.
The company had predicted rise in sales and had streamlined availability with an effective supply chain. They have been evaluating consumer behaviour and reading the demand trends and have been able to plan their product portfolio. They are anticipating that the upcoming wedding season will further stimulate demand. Wonderchef has an omnichannel sales strategy including digital, direct selling and TV shopping too. During the pandemic, the company leveraged its digital assets to reach out to both new and existing customers digitally, resulting in exponential growth in online sales.
Mirras Coffee Expands to New Markets in South and North India
Mirras Coffee is all set to expand its retail business across South India, this fiscal and North India, by next fiscal 2021-22. The group has been marketing filter coffee only in Chennai and Coimbatore but this year it will expand into Karnataka, Hyderabad and Kerala. The group will expand into Mumbai and Delhi in the next financial year. Besides this Mirras plans to open at least 100 kiosks in Tamil Nadu, including in the Chennai airport, by the end of this year.
The Group has 175 acres of coffee estates in Coorg and Sakleshpur in Karnataka and is now looking to expand its plantations by another 100 acres in the near future. The company generates 30-40 tonnes of coffee production per month and has a manufacturing capacity of one tonne per hour. It is now ready to augment its production driven by the market demand. The company also exports its coffee products to Singapore and New Zealand. It has now also added estate products like spices and wood-pressed oils to its catalogue.
O’ Greens to Launch India’s First Vegan Protein Bar
O’ Greens, a food tech start-up, is all set to launch India’s first of its kind vegan protein bar this Christmas. The company is known for its completely natural, gluten-free, non-processed, and guilt-free food that is sustainable including the packaging. The company has come up with this healthy and nutritious product after 18 months of research and development. They have created a set of artisanal health bars that are 100% vegan, naturally sweetened, gluten-free and most importantly really delicious. The company will be introducing the bars in different flavours than what they currently have. They are calling it India’s healthiest and cleanest source of protein.
Indian Chai Company to Expand Via Franchise Model
Indian Chai Company, a premium start-up tea brand, will be investing more than $1 million over the next year to expand pan-India as well as internationally through the franchise model. The expansion model will also see addition of experience stores and cloud kitchens to its portfolio. Currently, the company has its online and offline presence with various unique tea blends. The products of Indian Chai Company are available in tetra packs of 100 grams and 250 grams.
At present, the tea company has two operational cloud kitchens in Pune and will be adding more in Amritsar, Jaipur, New Delhi, and Mysore. The company aims to expand into 10 cities by December 2020 with over 25 stores. The company is also widening its distribution network across Multi brand Modern Retail and organic stores and will be in more than 20 cities by the end of this year. Poultry brand Nandu’s Implement ‘Mystery Audits’ Across its Stores
Bengaluru-based meat retail brand, Nandu’s, has become the first meat retail brand in the country to implement the Mystery Audit system across all its stores. The company has made this strategic move to ensure customer satisfaction and cater to safety and hygiene compliances. Mystery audit, as the name suggests, is a confidential assessment of the quality of services by independent evaluators. Individuals hired by an empanelled vendor visit the store posing as customers and evaluate the company’s performance under various parameters.
Nandu’s, has announced the appointment of HS Brands Global (Australia) for conducting monthly mystery audits across its 43 retail outlets in the city. Since March 2020, Nandu’s has doubled its sales, with retail stores accounting for 60 per cent of the company revenue. In India, mystery audits may be a new concept, but they have been proven to offer valuable customer insights in many parts of the globe especially in meat retail business. The company has a vision to provide healthy and hygienic meat that is free from hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and any form of growth promoters.
