Dr. S G AGARWAL says
Just to summarizes the whole story and in the light of Consumer Voice report,
“FSSAI has decided to legalize marketing of mixtures of Rice syrup and Corn syrup as PURE HONEY by all advertised brands”.
Param says
This will really help the producers as well as consumers to differentiate the pure honey and mixed one.

Very bad news for Indian Beekeepers
Prince Mathew says
How
Viraj says
Param sir, how in the world does it do that? It does the opposite instead.
Bk aingh says
This is absurd.
Why an artificially prepared or synthesise product be given the name of a natural product? This will be just like a fraud on consumers. Honey is used as a medicine as well as in varioys Hindu ‘Pujas’ where cereal are prohibited. Corn and rice are cereals. They will desecrate the Hindu rituals.
It must be withdrawn. Rice syrup or corn syrup must be clearly marked on the bottle of such products.

मिलावट खोरी बंद करवाओ स्वास्थ्य को बचाओ खाने की वस्तु में गंदगी परोसी जा रही है और लोग स्वास्थ्य खराब करने में मदद कर रहे हैं
Rajan says
Lyse Strnad MD says
Dr. Lyse Strnad, Ophthalmologist and beekeeper replies:
This is terribly wrong. Honey must be pure and unadulterated. Anything else is a sweetener.
Sreedhar Prasad Rao Nalli says
Why to reduce pollen count from 25000 m to 5000 m?
Marsha Hinchee says
This is outrageous. In no way is rice or corn syrup, or any other presentation of sugar syrups, in any form, other than honey taken from the comb of bees, honey. None qualify in every way that counts. Honey is honey. There is no substitute.
Vishal Choudhary says
Its a very good step by FSSAI. It will help the farmers to produce good quality and get the standard price for their products, and the other side this step will help the consumers to get a quality product. Value for the money.
Shailendra Prataprao Indulkar says
Prime Minister’s favorite program “Honey mission”is backstabbed!!
“Honey mission” is for farmers development the purpose will be defeated by corporate lobbying for rice syrup & corn syrup to be sold as honey .
Buyers are very cautious and will start suspecting honey from any sources ,thus the efforts put in development of Quality honey production by distribution of subsidized honeybee hive boxes & equipments .
Along with it self-employment & doubling farmers income will also suffer .
Hope the team involved in such drafts preparation is available on website.
Thanks for asking feedback glad to give .
On the other hand we wish to suggest that it would be beneficial to buyers & sellers if :
1)Bee species .
2)Geography location & crop .
3)Date of harvest .
are also mentioned on label.
Thanks again
Shailendra

Rishi Parashar says
This is very bad. This is a real proof of our PM being in favour of the corporate houses.Beekeeping has suffered a lot by the mixing of corn syrup in export lot by the corporate houses.Might is right. Now beekeep-
ers have no savior of their interest.
Pratham says
This is the example of money power of big corporate lobby, they can get the implementation of any law in favor of them. Export of honey is already captured, now domestic market will also be exploited. The beekeeper and the consumer both would be in loss. Government people are puppets in the hand of these corporates. Govt. should think of enhancing the quality but they are supporting adulteration. Very Bad.
And if these speculations are wrong, then the govt should clarify how it would be beneficial to beekeepers and other stakeholders.
FSH Team says
The said revised standards have been operationalised but a final notification in this regard is still awaited as the food authority seeks some more time to come out with the final notification, so it’s a wait and watch situation as of now.
Sreedhar Prasad Rao Nalli says
So the time is not yet arrived for final notification even in 2023!
But why?
