The FSSAI like other government departments is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week as per activities advised by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). The CVC has decided that this year the Vigilance Awareness Week will be observed from 27 October to 2 November with the theme “Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat. (Vigilant India, Prosperous India)
The Central Vigilance Commission is an apex anti-corruption body mandated to fight corruption for ensuring integrity in administration. Besides seeing integrity in public administration in the Central Government and the organisation under it, the Commission endeavours, in its outreach measures to create awareness amongst civil society and the public at large towards the policy of achieving transparency, accountability and corruption free government. The commission is fully committed to implement the policy of ‘Zero Tolerance against Corruption.”
The FSSAI is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week which began with the Integrity Pledge on 27 October 2020 at 11:00 AM which was taken to maintain integrity and honesty as per CVC guidelines and to support the fight against corruption. FSSAI employees read out the pledge which was also available as an e-pledge on the CVC website. FSSAI will also be observing Vigilance Awareness Week, 2020 at FSSAI (Headquarter) as well as all the Regional Offices and laboratories. The FSSAI has also made use of social media for spreading awareness about the Vigilance Awareness Week as advised by CVC.
The CVC has also advised that activities be organised within the organisation, like workshops/ sensitization programmes, distribution of pamphlets, etc. FSSAI will also conduct workshops and sensitization programmes for its employees and other stakeholders on policies/ procedures of the organisation and on vigilance measures.
Vigilance Division of FSSAI deals with complaints received through various sources against the employees of its Regional offices, Laboratories and Headquarters by following the CVC guidelines. On investigation by the FSSAI itself or through independent agency (i.e. CBI, CVC etc.) if prima facie, irregularities are attributed to any individual or more than one official, then further appropriate decision regarding initiation of Disciplinary Proceeding is taken at the level of Chief Executive Officer/Chairperson of the Authority.
