Ghost Kitchens India Enters Joint Venture Kludio, Bangladesh
Ghost Kitchens, one of the fastest growing cloud kitchens in India has now entered a Joint Venture (JV) with Kludio, Bangladesh, which is the fastest growing cloud kitchen in that country. This is a first JV in cloud kitchen space and will give both the companies, strategic partnership to take a market leader position. The JV will currently be for knowledge and infrastructure sharing for both brands for food trends across the Indian sub-continent. Both companies cumulatively plan to deploy about US$ 6 million in their respective businesses.
Since its inception in May 2019, Ghost Kitchens now has 210 internet restaurants and 18 homegrown brands. The JV will enable both brands to license their existing brands in each other’s countries. This will help the companies to expand their brands with an established operator who understands the cloud kitchens business. They have also agreed to co-invest to develop a common technology platform and data analytics infrastructure which will be used by both companies.Besides this, both the companies will also sign an understanding of collaboration and consolidation synergies in future. The companies will leverage the JV to cut down on capital and operational expenses in the thin margin cloud kitchens business.
Some Marriott Hotels in India Ready to Home Deliver Through Swiggy
Amid the COVID-19 disruptions, 20 Marriott International hotels in India are ready to offer home delivery of food as part of an agreement with Swiggy. The delivery service, known as ‘Marriott on Wheels’ will be available in several cities including Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Agra, Pune, Mumbai, Coimbatore and Goa.This facility will extend to additional cities, as more hotels join the service provider. Marriott believes they will have to adapt to the new aspects of approaching the hospitality business and adopt new ideas and create new experiences that are meaningful, valuable and convenient forcustomers. Swiggy will execute ‘no-contact’ deliveries on prepaid orders. The delivery will be left at the doorstep rather than an in-person exchange.
