Dr Oetker Fun Foods Launches Hot Veg Mayonnaise
Dr Oetker Fun Foods Professional (DOFFP), makers of spreads and sauces, has launched aVeg Mayonnaise called Smoky Peri Peri. The mayonnaise is thick and creamy. It is infused with Peri Peri Chilli and a smoky note. Peri Peri, also known as African Bird’s Eye Chilli is one of the hottest chillies in the world. Peri Peri, combined with a smoky top note and other spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom and black pepper, gives this mayonnaise a fiery kick.This will add a spicy zing to sandwiches, burgers, wraps, French fries and more.
Dr Oetker Fun Foods has created this mayonnaise in keeping with their endeavour to innovate and provide quality products that will help chefs create delightful culinary items. The product has taken months of hard work by their R&Dteam, who had to taste over 100 variants of chillies multiple times. This also required them to drink extra water and have honey to remove the chilli sting!The product will be exclusively supplied to hotels, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, caterers and local eateries.
Eastern Condiments Promoters Looking to Sell Majority Stake
Eastern Condiments, a leader among the spice industry is likely to see a change as the Meeran family, which holds 74% in company is planning to sell their controlling stake. McCormick & Co hold the rest of the 26 percent stake. However, along with the Meerans, McCormick too wishes to sell their investment in Eastern Condiments. The company is valued at Rs.1800-2000 crores.
An official sale process is likely to begin in a few days, and Avendus Capital is advising the promoters on finding a buyer. The company was set up in 1989 and it manufactures spices, masala, blended spice powders, pickles and rice-based products under the Eastern Condiments and has 70 percent market share in Kerala. It has also made inroads into markets in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. A quarter of the sales comes from exports to Middle East, Dubai, Doha and Jeddah.
Roots Ventures Invests in Kaarya Naturals
Mumbai-based Roots Ventures will invest in Kaarya Naturals, a Mumbai-based health food company founded by Kajal Bhatia, who is India’s first certified whole food nutritionist and a diabetes educator. Kaarya presently offers a range of protein and health bars under the brand name ‘eighty20’ but plans to expand its range of healthy snacks. Roots Ventures has decided to invest in Kaarya Naturals as it fulfils consumers’ aspiration for health snacking combined with great taste. Also, vegetarian and health conscious consumers focus on snacks that have nutrition and protein to overcome deficiencies.
Brand eighty20 makes 100 percent natural, vegan, gluten-free, and minimally processed healthy snacks, which are based on the philosophy of eating right 80 percent of the time. The current product portfolio comprises of energy bars for nutrition-on-the-go that comes in three flavours Cranberry, Blueberry &Toughnut. It has recently launched India’s first 20gm Plant Protein bar called ‘Plant Protein Plus’. Kaarya Naturals believes in providing honest food products that develop high-quality, clean and safe food from sustainable and humane sources.
Shop and Snack at Pondicherry’s Ayesha Accessories
Ayesha Accessories on Mission Street in Pondicherry displays accessories of all types. Besides offering wonderful accessories the store also has a space for unwinding. At the café entrance there is a signpost that reads ‘welcome to our loud crazy fun place’ and it also has other motivational, mood lighting quotes painted on wooden boards throughout the space. One of the walls is decorated with old broken clocks that is inspired from Pondicherry’s tag line ‘Give time a break’. The menu has a touch of unique as the balsamic dressing is served as tiny little pearls; the cold coffee is carbonated and the burgers are charcoal black. First Kamani Frozen Dessert Challenge
AAK Kamani, India’s leading manufacturer of specialty oil and fats recently held a competition for the top frozen dessert (FD) manufacturers in Mumbai. The challenge for the frozen dessert manufacturers was to create innovative and healthy frozen desserts using Koolex. Koolex is a premium specialty FD fat prepared by AAK Kamani. The short-listed products were judged by a jury on parameters like uniqueness, appearance, nutritional value, structural stability and others.Through the challenge, AAK Kamani provided an opportunity to the participants to create and promote healthy products.
The evaluation took place at AAK Kamani’s world class, Customer Innovation Centre, where new products and recipes are tried and tested for quality and innovation purposes. The winners were selected for various categories and announced at Ramada Convention Centre, Powai. The health category was won by Prince Cremary for their product called Frozen Dessert Kulfiez. Prabhu Ice Cream was awarded the winners for their Belgian Chocolate Frozen Dessert under innovation category. Challenges like this will help manufacturers to innovative and provide healthy frozen dessert to consumers.
