For Home Delivery Britannia Partners with Dunzo
Britannia Industries has partnered with e-commerce platform Dunzo for home delivery of all its products. Customers can order Britannia products through the Dunzo app from the “Britannia Essentials” store. Dunzo’s no-contact delivery will ensure that Britannia essentials such as biscuits, cakes, rusk, croissants, milkshakes, wafers, ghee and dairy whitener, are delivered safely and securely to users across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurugram, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. The first store in Bengaluru is now operational and products will be made available at Britannia’s distribution centres. Dunzo will source them from this Point of Sale (POS), ensure proper handling of the goods and enable availability across cities.
Marico Collaborates with Swiggy and Zomato for Essential Food Delivery
Marico Limited has partnered with Swiggy and Zomato to introduce ‘Saffola Store’ on the country’s foremost food-tech platforms. Availability of essentials is a critical need of the hour after the Covid-19 outbreak and so is consumer safety. Marico Limited aims to supply necessary food items to consumers without having them to step out of their homes, in these tough times. The delivery services are designed in adherence to strict hygiene and safety guidelines.
This initiative enables the consumer to order essential food items from the Marico portfolio like Saffola Oils, Saffola Plain Oats, Saffola Masala Oats and Coco Soul Virgin coconut oil, from the safety of their homes. This service is available on Zomato in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. It will soon be activated in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. Swiggy stores have started the delivery in Gurugram and the service will be extended to rest of Delhi, NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Swiggy will leverage and engage its extensive delivery fleet to ensure that essential products are safely delivered to customers at this time of need.
Marico has also announced an initial grant of Rs 8 crore to support the government, workers and medical fraternity in their fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Bigbasket to Hire 10,000 people for Warehouses and Delivery
Online grocery platform bigbasket is to hire at least 10,000 people for its warehouses and last-mile delivery so that they can clear pending orders quickly. They also require more personnel to meet the spike in orders on account of the nationwide lockdown. The company is facing challenges because of the availability of limited staff for warehouses and logistics as there is a shortfall of 50 percent staff. This hiring will happen across all 26 cities that Bigbasket has a presence in. The company has obtained permits/ passes from government authorities to ensure safe passage for its employees. It is also providing attractive salary and benefit package including health insurance to help staff at this difficult time.
The government has allowed delivery of essential goods including food, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment through e-commerce platforms. However, most E-commerce companies have been struggling to deliver orders after the March 25 nationwide lockdown. Bigbasket was operating at 10 percent of capacity on March 25 and is now operating at 40 percent of planned capacity. After the initial disruption the company has resumed operations and working to complete pending orders. Bigbasket has also partnered with Uber to deliver household essentials to customers.
Swiggy to Serve Five Lakh Meals Daily to the Needy
Swiggy has tied up with commercial kitchens, NGOs and state governments to provide daily meals to thousands of underprivileged, daily wagers and stranded migrant labourers during the lockdown period. So far, they have been able to serve around 2,50, 000 meals but now they are in the process of crowdsourcing funds from corporates and individuals so they can reach their goal of serving 5,00,000 meals daily.
On the ‘Hope, Not Hunger’ initiative the company feels that they are in a unique place as they can contribute by making food available to the needy while at the same time provide business opportunities for their restaurant and kitchen partners especially as the restaurant business has been badly hit after the lockdown. The initiative was launched in Delhi and has been scaled up to reach Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Chennai and Kolkata.
McDonald’s India Partners with Smiley Souls Foundation
Daily wage earners have taken the worst hit from the COVID-19 pandemic. To ease their situation McDonald’s India (West and South), in association with Smiley Souls Foundation will offer daily wage earners and their families in Mumbai safe and hygienic food. The company distributed more than 200 meals across three slums in Mumbai. While doing so, they ensured that social distancing and proper sanitization practices were followed strictly. In the coming days, the brand is looking to scale this initiative across cities such as Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
Bacardi to Produce 70,000 Litres of Hand Sanitisers
Bacardi India has started the production of hand sanitisers at its co-packing facility in Telangana. This initiative will be rolled out in other states where the company has co-packing manufacturing facilities. The company will be producing 70,000 litres of hand sanitisers, which will be distributed primarily to district government hospitals in these states. The company is working closely with local district authorities to ensure a steady supply to the hospitals.
Bacardi has stated that they have always endeavoured to support local communities, especially during difficult times. By boosting the supply of hand sanitisers, which is the need of the hour, they mean to strengthen the fight against Covid-19. The company facilities will be making use of alcohol in stock, as well as set aside designated quantities of alcohol, for production. All sanitisers produced will contain more than the minimum alcohol content recommended by the World Health Organization.
