One cannot think about life without water and providing access to safe drinking water is one of the most effective ways to ensure healthy life. In modern day scenario, packaged drinking water/ mineral water has become the mainstay for access to safe drinking water and is an emerging lifestyle requirement too. Also, consumers do not just need water to survive but also require safe and clean drinking water for the right metabolism and for the proper absorption of nutrients in the body.
FSSAI’s initiative Project Safe Drinking Water addresses the need of consumers to have the right to safe water for healthy lifestyle. Therefore, this initiative has been created by the FSSAI to allow consumers to check that the packaged drinking water/beverage they purchase is safe and of a high quality. To ensure the safety of drinking water, consumers can now verify the physical, chemical and microbiological safety of the packaged drinking water / mineral water through the system developed for the purpose by FSSAI. You can check the quality of the packaged water with the help of License No. and BIS No. on the pack of the bottle by going on the website https://safewater.fssai.gov.in/CleanWater/home and follow the instructions given there to check your packaged water quality.
In this way FSSAI’s Project Clean Drinking Water assures that the information pertaining to the manufacturing/ processing of packaged drinking water/ mineral water is more transparent for consumers. This project has been amplified as a ‘confidence building exercise’ as the project aims for providing consumers the right to know if the bottled water, they have purchased, is free from contaminants and of a high quality. FSSAI’s goal is to enable consumers to make an informed choice on the quality of water they consume.
Project Safe Drinking Water has a logo with the slogan ‘Safe Drinking Water for Healthy Living” the concept behind the LOGO is that it is a promise, made by the Apex Regulator, to strive to ensure the purity of drinking water. It is a promise of purity or water and an assurance that the water is safe to consume because it has been meticulously tested.
The “Safe Drinking Water for Healthy Living” logo (given below) is designed in such a way that the encircling of the fingers symbolises complete purity of the water, the translucent blue colour inside depicts cleanliness (free from toxins and contaminants) and the serenity of each drop signifies that every drop of water is safe for mass consumption.
