Answer: Any food business activity would require a prior approval from the food authorities. Fish Supply is also a food business and you have to apply for the license/registration of your business. If the projected annual turnover is up to Rs. 12 lakhs then you would require a Registration and if the annual turnover is expected to be more than Rs. 12 Lakhs then you would require a license.
Question: I want to do wholesale marketing of Tamarind & Red Chilly. I want to know whether a food license is required or not?
Answer: Yes, you have to apply for the license if you are expecting an annual turnover of more than Rs. 12 Lakhs. If in case, the projected annual turnover not likely to cross Rs. 12 Lakhs then you can apply for the registration certificate.
Question: I want to start my wholesale business. Can I start my business after filing an application to FSSAI but before getting my registration number?
Answer: Legally speaking, one should not start a food business without acquiring a license or a registration certificate. The authority usually grants a license or rejects the license within 60 days of receipt of the complete application and if there is no communication passed by the authority within the mentioned time period, then the food business operator may start his business on the lapse of 60 days. In case of a registration certificate, the lapse period is for 30 days.
Question: I have applied for registration as a home baker and got an offline challan of Rs 100 to be paid at SBI which I did on 10/3/2016. When I check my application status on the site it says payment status not updated. Kindly guide me from here as to how do I go about it.
Answer: You can further wait, as the system may take some time in updating the status of the application. You can also contact FSSAI through the mail or through phone nos. given on the below link.

Answer: The last extension was given on August 11, 2015, and the same ended on December 31, 2015. So, to the best of our knowledge, one has to comply with the guidelines on FSSAI Logo & Lic. No.
Question: WHAT IS THIS ‘Supporting Documentary proof for Turnover’. A new person who is required to do wholesale business for pulses in India then how to get this document?
Answer: For a person who is starting a new business and who is not involved with food manufacturing/processing activity then one can apply for the registration of the food business based on the expected turnover. If a person is expecting a turnover of more than Rs. 12 lakhs in a Year then he/she shall apply for the license and if the expected annual turnover is less than Rs. 12 lakhs then he/she shall have applied for the Registration. For manufacturing/processing units, the production capacity would be taken into account instead of Annual Turnover.
