
Manpasand Beverages Sets up New Plant at Varanasi
Manpasand Beverages has invested Rs.170 crore to complete their new manufacturing facility at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The new facility is located at UPSIDC Agropark, Phoolpur, Varanasi and is spread over seven acres with an installed capacity to produce 50,000 cases per day. The company now has a total of seven manufacturing facilities with a capacity of about 2,75,000 cases per day across India. Manpasand is planning to enter new product segments that include milk-based drinks, fruit-based sugar-free drinks, glucose drinks and protein-based drinks so as to provide a significant boost in its growth journey.
The two Varanasi facilities will cater to the key markets of the north-west, the east, the north-east and a part of central India. Apart from the existing range of products, this unit will also focus on new product segments like milk-based drinks and protein-based drinks. The company’s flagship brand Mango Sip is already doing well in rural and semi-urban areas and has emerged as the third-largest mango drink brand in the modern trade segment according to a recent data shared by Nielsen.
Tata Starbucks Opens 125th Store in India
Tata Starbucks Private Limited, the 50-50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Global Beverages Limited, has opened its 125th Starbucks store in India at The PavillionPune. The Pavillion Pune is a renowned multi-brand mall that is known to provide a unique shopping, retail, and entertainment experience. Pune now has 11 Starbuck stores out of the 125 stores operating in India. The artwork at the new store celebrates the story of the Starbucks bean journey. Parag Milk to Target 10 Percent Market Share of Fresh Milk in Delhi-NCR
Parag Milk Foods has recently launched the fresh milk category in Delhi-NCR and is targeting a 10 percent market share from this segment in the current fiscal year. The fresh milk will be sold under the Company’s Gowardhan brand. The company has eight months; August to March, in this fiscal year for them to reach their targeted market share in the fresh milk segment. North India is a priority market for Parag Foods as consumption of dairy products is the highest in this region.
Parag Foods has also commenced commercial operations of its Sonepat plant, which it bought from Danone in April and it plans to reach out to the regions within 250-300 km of the Sonepat plant. The expansion will allow cow’s milk reach Delhi-NCR and neighbouring regions, where currently, 90 percent of the fresh milk supply is from buffalo milk. Sonepat facility has a processing capacity of one lakh litre per day and depending on the demand the company can increase it up to three lakh litres per day. Besides fresh milk, this facility will also manufacture flavoured milk, buttermilk, and lassi which will be supplied to the markets in the North and East.
Uber Eats: India Fastest Growing Market
The US-based Uber had launched Uber Eats the food delivery system in India in May last year and now India is becoming the fastest growing market in the Asia Pacific region. They are expanding their service rapidly to cover more Indian cities and have recently expanded into Tiruchirappalli, Surat, Nashik, Ludhiana, and Mysore to take the total number of cities covered to 28. Interestingly, Vijayawada and Madurai were the first two cities where Uber Eats was launched before the taxi service was launched.
The company has not revealed specific numbers but it has said that the orders on its platform have grown four-fold in the last three months and has shown almost 50 percent month-on-month growth. As urbanization is picking up Uber sees more opportunities to take their service to newer cities especially in tier II cities where they see tremendous potential for the food tech industry. Uber Eats competes with the likes of Zomato and Swiggy as well as FoodPanda, which is owned by the rival, Ola.

Vishal Kaul Becomes New Pepsi Marketing Head
PepsiCo’s senior VP (Beverages) Vipul Prakash has quit after a 20-year stint. Prakash was heading marketing for beverages and he will be succeeded by Vishal Kaul. Kaul has been associated with PepsiCo since 1999 except for a brief stint with Ola.
