
Through a notification dated 02 March 2020 the FSSAI has re-operationalised the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Amendment Regulations, 2020.
The FSSAI had framed the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Amendment Regulations 2018. This amendment regulation was approved by the Food Authority in its meeting held on 21 September, 2017. These regulations contain amendments in the following sections
- Section 1: Licensing and Registration of E-Commerce food business operator
- Section 2: Documents to be enclosed for a new application for a license to State/Central Licensing Authority for restaurant
- Section 3: Conditions of license for a restaurant
- Section 4: Part-II of Schedule 4 relating to general requirements on Hygienic and sanitary practices to be followed by all food business operators applying for a license
- Section 5:- Part IV of Schedule 4 relating to establishing a small slaughterhouse
- Section 6: Part V of Schedule 4 relating to good hygienic and manufacturing practices to be followed by licensed food business operators engaged in catering or food service operation or food service operations
These amended regulations were operationalised with effect on 15 February 2018 and then have been re-operationalised three times earlier with effect from 16 August 2018, 28 February 2019 and 28 August 2019.
The Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011 are in the final stages of comprehensive revisions. The FSSAI has stated that since the revisions are likely to take some more time, therefore, it has again decided to further re-operationalise these amendment regulations with effect from 16 February 2020.
